Castrum Diani: the Medieval Festival that will take you back in time
Since 1983 Diano Castello has been going back in time with a festival-remembrance that enlivens the streets and small squares of one of Italy’s most beautiful villages: from 6 to 11:30 p.m. there are shows and fights, performances by flag-wavers, musicians and stilt-walkers, and at 8 p.m. the not-to-be-missed historical procession.
The locations involved are Clavesana Square, Giudice Square, De Foresta Square, Matteotti Square, and all connecting streets, which create a true loop circuit.
There will be food stands in Matteotti Square with specialties from the cuisine of Gli Amici del Castello (the Friends of the Castle).
Castrum Diani is also the name that was given, around the 10th century, to the present village of Diano Castello.
Get ready to go back in time!
A shuttle bus from Diano Marina will be operating throughout the event.
Castrum Diani is organized by the Municipal Administration of Diano Castello, which has entrusted the artistic direction to the Giullari del Carretto.
